Cinnamon is the oldest spice and has been used by several cultural practices for centuries
Its properties :- anti-microbial, anti-fungal, antiviral, antioxidant, anti-tumour, blood pressure-lowering, cholesterol and lipid-lowering and gastro-protective properties.
It is also used for the treatment of cough and cold, gastrointestinal disturbances, bronchial asthama.
One study found that cinnamon consumption is associated with a statistically significant decrease in levels of fasting plasma glucose, total cholesterol, LDL-C, and triglyceride levels, and an increase in HDL-C levels; however, no significant effect on hemoglobin A 1c was found
How Much Cinnamon Should You Take?
Because cinnamon is an unproven treatment, there isn’t a set dose. Some experts suggest 1/2 to 1 teaspoon (2-4 grams) of powder a day. Some studies have used between 1 gram and 6 grams of cinnamon. Very high doses might be toxic.
Cinnamon powder can be sprinkled on toast, salads, rotis and lattes
For the kadha or decoction recipe
Step 1: To begin making kadha, add hot water in a pan.
Step 2: Crush cinnamon stick in a mortar and pestle.
Step 3: Add to the pan. Cook on medium heat till the decoction is reduced to half.
Step 4: Strain the mixture in glass and enjoy your drink.
