Have you ever noticed the number of hours you sit each day….6 hrs. ..8hrs..or even longer

We sit at our computers, meetings, commuting, watching TV, checking mobile. Today, the average office worker sits for about 10 hours, a day
and that’s bad news for our health.

Sitting too much makes us unhealthier, unfitter, more metabolically broken — possibly even dumber.

If you work out for an hour a day, but sit for the remainder, that one hour doesn’t do much to counter 9+ hours of sitting.

In as little as an hour of sitting, our backs can measurably stiffen.
(Men suffer slightly more than women, who are typically a bit more flexible.) Such people suffer from back pain, slip disc, stiffness of neck, compressed discs.

So, how can you ensure you sit less, stand or move more? Here are a few tips

Use the washroom frequently

Take regular movement breaks. Set a timer. Every hour, stand up, stretch, walk around for a few minutes.

Have walking meetings. Outside if possible.

Walk and talk. When you take a phone call, stand up or go for a stroll.

Try a dictation app on your smartphone for jotting down notes.

Walk over to colleagues to discuss ideas rather than email or call them to incorporate more movement in your routine.
